Must I Allow My Cat Go Outside?

One of the most frequent questions that I am asked is if someone should allow their cat to roam outdoors. I usually reply this question the same way: no. Cats are perfectly happy inside. When they get used to their home, and you have given them an adoring, tending family, they have no reason to even want to go outside anymore.

When you allow your cat outside, they become susceptible to many more risks compared to inside of your home. The most frequent of these is disease. There are numerous diseases that cats can get very easily outdoors, but are virtually immune to indoors. These differ from feline leukemia to rabies to Lyme's disease.

The other issue with the outdoors is that it is definitely unsafe. Your cat can get hit by a car, or attacked by another animal. Another, extremely sad, but common, thing which happens is the cat may be harmed by someone else who simply does not like cats.

For all these factors, I always recommend that you try to keep your cat inside at all times. At times, I do get individuals who sincerely feel bad keeping their cat inside when they only have a smaller apartment or room.

Although I am aware of this, it's simply not a problem. Cats only know what they understand. They do not realize that they live in crowded areas as that is their home. However, if you want to find some methods to give your cat some more space, look up!
